Portraits from Your Photos in Watercolor, Pencil, Color Pencil,

Pen & Ink or Mixed Media

Fine Art Portraits

I have created people and pet portraits for over 15 years. All portraits are done in either graphite pencil, colored pencil, pen & ink or mixed media on either white or colored paper or illustration board. I work exclusively from photos, thus eliminating the need for clients to travel long distances and pay sitting fees.

Portraits make very thoughtful, unique gifts, and will be treasured for generations. If you want to see tears of joy and love, give someone the gift of a portrait.

Photo Tips

The quality of the photos is very important, as you will get the best possible likeness from the best possible photos. Tips for taking good quality photos are as follow:

  • Send clear, sharp, close-up photos.

  • Avoid using flash; it flattens out details. Natural, outdoor light is best, or indoor light with 400 speed film in a good camera.

  • If possible, try to shoot a whole roll of 35 mm film, from different angles and in different light. Then choose the best shots.

  • Try to have the eyes of the individual/pet clearly visible, especially for color portraits and head studies.
A 3/4 view, or one in which the face is somewhere between a profile and a full frontal view, is best.

How to Order People/Pet Portrait?
When you have your photos ready, refer to the price list, and use the printable order form. Place your photos in a photo mailer, or insert a piece of stiff cardboard into your envelope to keep photos from being damaged in the mail. If you are using valuable photos, you might consider making good quality color copies (even for black and white photos, because color copies are much more detailed), and sending those instead. If you would rather send the original photos, please ask for insurance from the Post Office. It is well worth the small cost.
Please include a check or money order for 50%, payable to Diane Gremillion and mail to Diane Gremillion, P.O. Box 727, Ruidoso, NM 88355-0727.

How long does a portrait take to finish?
A portrait usually takes 3 - 6 weeks to complete depending on the workload; however, some portraits can be done sooner. When placing your order, please let me know when you would like your portrait and I will do my best to fulfill your request. Some backlog may occur around Christmas, so please order early. Shipping is free to customers living in U.S.
